THE DOMINION DISPUTE. ADJUSTING LOCAL CONDITIONS. The dispute of the New Zealand Performing Musician's Association came before the Arbitration Court yesterday. Mr. S. E. Wright appeared for the employers and Mr. C. Renn, of Christchurch, for the association. Mr. Justice Franer said there were two matters to be considered. A local dispute had been before the Court at last sitting acd had been adjourned. Meanwhile a Dominion dispute had been heard in Wellington and conditions relating to the other centres had been fixed. Mr. Wright said the employers were prepared to accept the conditions of th« Dominion award with a provision empowering the employers and the local un'on to agree to any alteration necessary for local conditions. Mr. Renn agreed to such provision being made with the reservation that it should cot interfere with vital matters such as wages, overtime and preference. It was agreed that the radius for operation of the award should be eight miles from the post office for indoor work and 15 miles for outdoor work. Evidence was heard on behalf of the union regarding the increased cost of maintaming instruments and other aspects of the cost of producing musical entertainment. . . , , . A Mr. Justice Frazer intimated that, a further hearing would take place in Dunedin in about a fortnight before an award would be issued.
