Thursday, j In a miniature rifle shooting contest j between the Whangarei Rifle Club and B Company of the 3rd Battalion Cadets the latter won in the aggregate by 61 points. For two medals presented by the riflo club for the best scorers in the cadets' team there was spirited competition, a triple t;ie resulting between Corporals S. Withers and L. Osborne and Sergeant Archer. In the shoot-off a tie resulted between Withers and Osborne. The former gained the verdict in the deciding round. At the ivamo sale yesterday some of the 50 head of beef yarded was of excellent quality and sold well. One steer made £3l 10s, another £27 10s, and a third £27 7s 6d. Cows sold for £l6 15s each. Inferior quality also sold well. Dairy cows were disposed of at up to £lO, three to four-year-old steers from £7 5s to £8 10s and good weaned calves at £2 ss.
