The secretary was instructed to communicate with the Franklin County Council, the Pukekohe Borough Council, the Post and Telegraph Department, the Franklin Power Board and the potato-growers of the district asking them to cooperate with the chamber in urging the remodelling of the Pukekohe railway yards to give adequate facilities; if necessary, the passenger platform to be made an island station. Hie district traffic manager advised that the question of making Pukekohe a stopping-place for the ordinary Main Trunk express each day was being inquired into. . ft was decided to ask the Auckland Savings Bank to consider opening a branch at Pukekohe- The postmaster at Pukekohe advised that a third mail was now being carried daily between Pukekohe and Tuakau and vice versa, giving prompt delivery in each town. A committee, composed of Messrs. 0. Heerdegen, C. Cooper, F. A. Hosking, C. G. Johnson and J. P. Rae, was appointed to report on the question of a publicity campaign for the district. It was resolved ti convene a meeting of shopkeepers to deal with the proposal to hold a special -shopping week in Pukekohe.
