F!RE BRIGADE PROPOSAL. AMENDED FERRY SERVICE. The Birkenhead Borough Council met on Wednesday evening, the Mayor, Mr. E. G. Skeates, presiding. \ request for an snnn&l contribution of £25 toward the upkeep of the Northcote Fire Brigade v:as deferred pending a reply from the NorthcoUs Borough Council regarding a joint fit"'- brigade for the two districts. . Thirty-seven applications were received for the position of town clerk. - The Devonport Ferry Company wro.e that the new time-table would come into "force on November 1 It was decided to reouest that the 5.10 p.m. sterner trom Auckland should proceed to Chelsea. The Parks Committee was empowered to meet the representatives of the Birkdale Ratepayers' Association to arrange for the position and erection of bathing Sh F, : ve permits for new buildings were granted. ________
