RUGBY FOOTBALL.
BENEFIT FOR V. BADELEY. PONEKE TO MEET PONSONBY. * GOOD CAME ANTICIPATED. Exceptional interest- centres In the benefit Rugby match to be played at Eden Park to-morrow afternoon between Poneke, the Wellington club champions, and Ponsonby, Auckland's premier club team. The proceeds of the game will be donated to V. Badeley, the Grammar Old Boys' Club centre threequarter and Auckland representative, who was seriously injured in the All Black trial match at Bden Park early last year. The Poneke players are expected to arrive in Auckland this morning with a large party of supporters. They will stay at the Royal Hotel. Both teams play fast, open football, so that to-morrow's contest should provide an exciting struggle. In 1888 a Poneke Club team visited Auckland and beat Grafton by 12 points to -6. The Pollard Cup final, Grammar Old Boys v, Grafton, will be played as a cur-tain-raiser. HOUSE TEAMS' MATCH. A house, match between teams representing W. D. and H. O. Wills, Ltd., and Messrs. Abbott, Armstrong and Howie was played at the Domain yesterday afternoon. The latter team showed better combination and won by 22 points to 3.
