The report to be presented at the eighteenth annual muttons of the Auckland centre of lie New Zealand Amateur Swimming Assojiaticn on Thursday, October 22, retards a very auccsssful year from a completive point of view, although owing to tlif> infantile paralfiiis epidemic attendances at carnival* were jfiteaily aSeefted, and «~e cental's finances consequently suffered. However, the centre would be abie to meet aiU liabilities. All club loans had been refunded. During the year as van clubs Were affiliated. They were: Dargavi'Je, Devonport, Drapers', Mount Eden, Parneli, Ponsonby and Waitemata. Most of thsia held carnivals which were generally poorly attended. The centre held She local championships on two evenings, but again tEfc attendances were disappointing. A very good team re* presented the centre at the Now Zealand championships in Chrislchurch, ftnd regained possession of the Yaldburst Shield with a Mscord score of 74 points. The Auckland representatives won 10 swimming championships and were rnr ners-up for the water polo championship. iVree members of the team each established .» Dominion record. The season had been notable for the num- : tier of New Zealand records broken by local swimmers, ana. all the times had been p-wssed by the New Zealand Council. The great event of the Auckland season was the appearance of Miss Mariechen WehTOlan and Sam Kih 3Baznoku, the famous Hawaiian swimmers, whose exhibitions were instructive and enjoyahle. The City Council again granted the centre the use of the tepid hatha for fortnightly club nights, and fiße improvfsxaenta wero elected at the Mount Eden bi.ths.
