BRITISH FILM TRADE.
ENCOURAGEMENT NEEDED. VICTORIA'S GOOD EXAMPLE. LONDON, ;3ept. 30. ''Victoria's decision to compel the inclusion of 1000 ft. of British film in every cinema programme gives a lead to the remainder of the Empire," says the London Evening News. "A thousand will not be of much heip to the British film drama. It will be most helpful in the portraying of English scenes and customs." "Why don't we do the same here?" asks the Daily Mail. "The industry is languishing, not because Britain cannot produce good films, but because she is inundated with foreign film!!. "Many of these films, purporting to represent English life, are full of vulgar anachronisms and preposterous inaccur acies. Othars savour of American propaganda."
