TAUMARUNUI BOROUGH.
CONFIDENCE IN MANAGER. RESOLUTION OF COUNCIL. [BY TELEGRAPH. —-PRESS ASSOCIATION.] TATTMARTTNTJI. Wednesday. A motion by Mr. Dryland, the Labour member of the Taumarunui Council, "That the existing agreement between the Borough Council and the borough manager be terminated, and that applications be called for the position of town cl£rk," was discussed lengthily. The mover made it plain at the outset that he brought the matter up simply because he was opposed to the borough manager system, and not because he had any personal complaint or grievance against the manager, Mr. A. Leese. The motion was seconded pro forma by Mr. Pattison, but on a vote being taken was defeated, the mover being the only one to vote in favour of it. On the motion of the Mayor, Mr. G. E. Manson, seconded by Mr. H. H. Gunthorpe, it was resolved unanimously that the council places on record its appreciation of the past services of Mr. Leese, and expresses continued confidence in his capacity as borough manager.
