EXCITING INTERLUDE.
UPHOLDING OF THE LAW. [BY TFLEG P.APH. OWN COB/RESPONDENT. j HAMILTON", Wednesday. A lecture supporting the corporate control of the liquor traffic was delivered by the Rev. Gordon Bell, of Auckland, before a large audience in the Hamilton Town Hall. Some excitement was caused at question time by the conduct of the Rev. W. Ready, who, when Mr. Bell said he would not assist in upholding the Jaw if prohibition were carried, waved his arms and excitedly advancing to the platform, cried: "Do you uphold the King? I am not, going to allow anyone to stand up and say he will defy the laws of the Bang." The chairman, Mr. J. McKinnon, ordered Mr. Ready to sit down. Mr. Bell claimed there was a right ,to oppose a law conscientiously considered to be tyrannical and unjust.
