TRAINS TO OPUA.
DAILY SERVICE NEXT WEEK. SPEEDING UP EXPRESSES. A daily service by rail between Auckland and Opua is to be instituted by the Railway Department next Monday. At present there is a daily service from Whaugarei, but it is possible to reach Auckland from Opua only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. In future a train will also leave Opua at 6.45 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, connecting at Whangarei with the express for Auckland. The present train which leaves Opua at 9.17 a.m. on these days will be cancelled, but a train will leave Opua at 2 p.m., arriving at Whangarei at 7.10 p.m. The afternoon train from Whangarei to Opua will run on Wednesdays as well as Mondays and Fridays as at present, but will not leave Whangarei until 3.20 p.m. so as to connect with the express from Auckland. It will reach Opua at 7.5 p.m. Other trains on this line will also be speeded tip. The express which now leaves Opua on Mondays, Wodnesdavs and Fridavs at 8.45 a.m. will not leave Opua until 9.10 a.m. and Whangarei until 11.58 a.m., reaching Auckland at 6.12 p.m. The express leaving Auckland daily v*>M reach Whangarei at 2.58 p.m. instead of 3.10 p.m., and on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays will leave at 3.8 p.m., arriving at Opua at 5.50 p.m. instead of 6.12 p.m. The time-table on the Kaikohe branchline will he altered to snit the new times of the expresses.
