EXCITED WOMEN.

FOOTBALL MATCH INCIDENT. At the termination of tfaa New South Wales-Footscray football match at Sydney on September 26 Mr. L. W. Gibb, who, while acting as field umpire in the Sy d ney -Pad di ngton match on September 12, was struck by a player, was proceeding toward the dressing-room, wheD a number of women crowded around and reviled him, while a man attempted to bar his progress. The police were, how* ever, prompt in restoring order, and Mr. Gibb, who was present as a spectator only, was not farther threatened. One of the officials stated that it was becoming apparent that the New South Wales League would have to adopt some method of dealing with the rabid following' which was threatening to bring the game into disrepute.
