THE TUNNEL COLLAPSE.
RECOVERY OF THE BODIES. PUSHING FORWARD A DRIVE. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN* CORRESPONDEOT. ] CHRISTCHURCH. Monday. Ever since Archer and Daley were rescued at Lake Coleridge on Saturday night the work of making the new drive by means of which the bodies of McDonald, Grsen and MacFarlane will be bmnght out has been pushed forward with the utmost expedition. It is not expected, however, that any of the bodies can be recovered before Friday or Saturday at the earliest. "We have got the drive in about 18ft," said Mr. McKillop this afternoon. " Progress is naturally slow as the drive is being very heavily timbered. It is being advanced about ?ft in each shift of eight hours." The length of the drive, he added, would be about 50ft and at present eight or nine men were working to a shift.
