AUSTRALIAN CRICKET.
RULES OF THE GAME. SELECTORS OF TOURING TEAM. A. and N.Z. SYDNEY. Oct. 3. The Australian Board of Cricket Control has decided to inform the State associations that it is of the opinion that the practice of covering wickets is not in the best interests of the game. The associations are to be asked to adopt measures to prevent it as far as possible in future. It has also been decided to inform the M.C.C. that the board considers the over in Australia should consist of eight balls, as at present, and that the method of tossing for th§ choice of inhings at present in vogue should be adhered to. Collins, Ryder and Clem. Hill have been appointed selectors to choose the Australian team to tour England. The board has decided that the team shall not go to New Zealand en route. It will proceed direct, but will play matches in Tasmania and Western Australia.
