MR. NALDER APPOINTED. LONG RECORD OF SERVICE. LAND AND DEEDS SECRETARY, [BY TZLBOBAMZ. —OWN COB-ttBSPOMDENT.] WELLINGTON, Thursday. Following on the retirement of Mr. D. G. Clark from the position of permanent head of the combined Departments of Land and Income Tax, Stamp Duties and Land and Deeds, it was decided to revert to the arrangement which was in force prior to the amalgamation. As already announced, Mr. A- E. Fowler has been appointed to- the position of Commissioner of Taxes. It is now notified that Mr. Charles Edward Nalder has been appointed to the position of Commissioner of Stamp Duties and Secretary for Land and Deeds. Mr. Nalder at present holds the office of registrar of land, district land registrar and registrar of deeds, Wellington, and, in addition, is assistant-secretary for land and is assistant-secretary for land and deeds. He was born at Nelson on July 31, 1869- He was educated in the Nelson public schools and at Nelson College. Ha entered the Land Transfer Department as a cadet on August 1, .1886. He was appointed Registrar of Deeds, etc., at Blenheim in 1900, district land registrar, etc., in 1902, and was transferred to Invercargill in a similar capacity in 1910. He was promoted to the position of district land registrar, etc., Dnaedin, on April 1, 19x1, and on May 6, 1919, again received promotion to a similar position in Christchurch. On September 15, 1921, he was promoted to the position of Registrar-General of Land, District Land Registrar and Registrar of Deeds, Wellington. In 1923 he was, in addition, appointed Assistant-Secretary for Land and Deeds.
