REPORT ON SOUTHERN TOUR.

MATCHES FOR SATURDAY.

The management committee of the Auckland Rugby League met last evening, the chairman, Mr. W. J. Hammill, presiding.

The Canterbury League wrote expressing its thanks to the Anckland team for tho keen and enthusiastic manner in which the gamo against Canterbury was played. A letter was received from tho Jubilee Institute for the Blind expressing thanks for the generous donation made by the league to its funds.

Several requests for financial assistance were received from various organisations, but it was decided that in view, of tho allocations already made by the league the applications must bo refused. Reporting on the Auckland team's recent southern 'tour, Mr. R. Doble, manager of the team, said although tho visit was not a financial success, tho games produced some excellent football. Tho conduct of the players was excellent and they did everything possible to make the trip enjoyable. The district telegraph engineer advised that it was proposed to provide ready means by which telephone subscribers might receive early information from the bureau as to the results of prominent sporting events. Tho installation of the necessary equipment at Carlaw Park was approved.

An application for registration from tfio Waikato player. L. Hutt,- who will play for Ponsonby, was approved. The Richmond Club was given perr ission to hold a sports meeting at Carlaw Park on October 31. , Permission was granted teams representing the Lands and Survey Department to play a football match at Carlaw Park to-day. The following matches havo been arranged for Saturday: Senior Grade.—Ponsonby v. Marist, Carlaw Park No. 1, 3 p.m., Mr. Saunders. Second Grade.—Richmond v. Ponsonby B, Carlaw Park No. 2, 8 p.m.. Mr. McCowatt. Third Grade.—Northcote v. Point Chevalier, Outer Domain, 5 p.m., Mr. Inniss; City 'v. Athletic, Grey Lynn, 3 p.m.. Mr. Simpson.

Fourth Grade.—Richmond v. Ponsonby, Carlaw Park No. 1, 1.45 p.m., Mr. Cbernside; Devonport v. Parnell, Parnell, 3 p.m.. Mr. Rogerß.

Fifth Grade.—'Marist v. City, Carlaw Park No. 2, 0 p.m., Mr. Bull; Northcote v. Parnell, Parnell, 2 p.m., Mr. Rogers, Sixth Grade.—Newton v. Devonport, Devonport, 3 p.m., Mr. McKubrey: Northcote B v.
