Here is the Prohibition Director's Reply, Treasury Dept., Newark, N.J. Nov. 14th, 1923. id wmim Keep out this merciless Dr. Philip Embury, Basking Ridge, N.J. Dear Doctor: Reference is made to your letter of the 12 th inst. relative to the propriety of prescribing or administering a quantity of whisky in excess of one pint in ten days to a patient now under your care. While fche case mentioned by you is undoubtedly meritorious, we are compelled to call your attention to Sections 71 and 77 of Regulations 60, which state that the total amount of spirituous liquor administered or prescribed by one or more physicians to one person in a period of ten days may not exceed a pint. You will, therefore, see that this office has no prerogative in the matter, except as stated above and therefore, no quantity of liquor in excess of one pint may be legally prescribed or administered to one patient in a ten day period. Yours very truly, (Signed) ADRIAN G. CHAMBERLAIN, Federal Prohibition Director. • •»••>• ,Jj V"i f ' ' ' ' Be Warned in Time! " | r SI I wBBRS*RKB& m 2iWjSgj mJm ■H
