MAIL CONVOY ATTACKED
OUTRAGE NEAR DAMASCUS. BRITISH OFFICER WOUNDED. A. and N.Z. BAGDAD. Sept. 15. A Nairn cross-desert, mail convoy to Bagdad, accompanied by French escorting cars, troops and machine-guns, was attacked 86 miles from Damascus and forced to'return to Damascus. Flying, Officer Long, of the Royal Air Force, was slightly wounded. The French authorities reported that the usual route of the Nairn service is definitely unsafe.
