POST OFFICE REFUSED.
FACILITIES AT BELMONT. The Postmaster-General, Sir James Parr, has declined a request for erection of a post office at Belmont. In a latter to the Takapuna Borough Council last evening he stated the claims of tho council for establishment of the post oftice had been fully examined,. with the result that the application would have to be declined. The postal facilities already provided in the district were considered to meet all reasonable requirements. Members gave voice to a different opinion than that held by the PostmasterGeneral. Mr. F. E. N. Gaudin suggested that if the department would not accede to the erection of a post office it might consider providing two deliveries a day in the Bavswater and Belmont districts instead of only one as at present. The suggestion met with favour and it was decided to write on those lines to the Minister.
