AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE Business on the Auckland sharemarket was again below the average yesterday. In Government securities there was a weak inquiry for War Loans, but a quickened demand occurred for Inscribed Stock, all issues except one being sought. In debentures a transaction in New Zealand Breweries took place at 22s 6d, with closing holders at 22s 7d, buyers 22s 4d. In banks Commercial of Australia sold at 325, late holders asking 32s 6d, buyers 31s 9d. Holders of New Zealands firmed from 57s 3d on the previous day to 57s 9d, buyers remaining steady at 575." In. insurances there was no alteration in quotations for New Zealands, holders being at 36s 3d, buyers 35s 9d. Holders of South British were again at 51s 6d, inquiry being 3d weaker at 50s 9d. In gas a sale of Aucklands (cont.) occurred at 6s 6d, closing holders asking 6s Bd, buyers drppping Id to 6s sd. In miscellaneous lines Colonial Sugars wore available at £53, inquiry being at £sl 10s. New Zealand Breweries wore active, selling at 41s 9d, and later in two insrances at 425. Closing holders were at the final sale figure, Buyers 41s lOd. Taranaki Oils were slightly lower at holders 225, buyers 21s 3d. Tonson Garlick again sold at 13s. In mining a transaction in Moanataiaris was reported at 2s 6d, closing holders being at 2s Bd, buyers 2s 3d. Kawaraus were available at the lower figure of lis, buyers being at 10s 6d. Holders of Waihis were again at 25s 3d, buyers 24s lid. The following sales took place:—Now Zealand Breweries Debentures, 22s 6d; Commercial Bank of Australia, 325; Auckland Gas (c6*nt.), 6s 6d; New Zealand Breweries shares, 41s 9d, 42s (two sales); Tonson Garlick, 13s; Moanataiari, 2s 6d.
