ALLEGED FORGERY.
YOUTH SENT UP FOR TRIAL

A youth named Clias. Wirfiam Wahle, with several aliases, was charged before Mr. H. A. Young, S.M., with forging the signature of G. Beard to a cheque -for £ls and causing it to be acted upon as genuine. Accused pleaded not guilty.
A Frankton draper said accused purchased from him a feather bag, collars and shirts, the total value being £3, tendering a cheque for £ls in payment payable to F. Neilson. Accused stated that his name was Neilson. The cheque was cashed. <
Beard, a farmer at Te Rapa, said he knew accused, who worked for him at one time. A cheque book containing four or five blank cheques was lost .by witness after accused, lift his employ. Tne cheque presented to Garde was the last blank cheque in the missing book. He did not sign nor authorise any person to sign the cheque for him. Constable McCowan, of Raetihi, said that accused when arrested denied his identity. Accused was committed for trial.
