LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
SECOND TEST TO-MORROW. QUEENSLAND V. NEW ZEALAND. CLOSE CONTEST EXPECTED. Hie 6econd League test match between Queensland and New Zealand will be played at Carlaw Park to-morrow afterThe game ia causing considerable interest among followers of the code, particularly in view of the close contest last Saturday and no doubt there will bo a large attendance to witness the game which should be an attractive exposition. It may be taken for granted that the visitors will strain every effort to avenge their narrow defeat in the first test. Mr. H. Sunderland, one of the managers of the Queensland team stated last evening that Queensland boDed to win although they expected the result to be very close. Since the first game of tha year in Brisbane, when Queensland ran up a big first-half score against New Zealand and won by 43 to 19 they had lost both Duncan Thompson and E. S. Brown. In addition it had to be remembered that New Zealand bad made great improvement since that game. They were properly trained, had acctuired combination, and were playing on their own ground under conditions to which they wore more accustomed. But. in spite of all this. Queensland hoped to win. " You can depend on Queensland playing the game and, win or lose, realising that the game and a clean spirit count more than either winning or losing," concluded Mr. Sunderland.
The Queen slanders have not chosen tho to-morrow's team but it will be selected from the following:— Fullback: Craig of Frauenfelder. Threequarters: Aynaley, Spencer, Gorman. Craig or Crouch.
Halfback: Edwards. Connell or Craig. Forwards: Steinohrt, Henderson. Bennett. Armbnister. Parcell. Purcoll. The position of the fine all-round player, Craig, ia uncertain, but it will ocasion no surprise to see him playinc behind the scrum. The New Zealand team is as follows: Fullback Gregory. Threequarters: Delgrosso. Saunders, Littlewood. Five-eighths: Wetherall, Kirwan. • Half-back: Webb. Forwards: O'Brien, Carroll, Herring. O'Brien, Singe, Avery. The following curtain-raisers will bo played :—Parnell fifths v. Northcote fifths, 12.45 p.m., Mr. Emirali; Richmond Sixth B v. City Sixth B,' 1.45 p.m., Mr. Simpson. The Parnell team is:—Riley, Clapham, Webster, O'Connell, Hunt, 8 torn an, Pearson, Simpson (2). Meehan, Stewart, Callander, Clough, Davies, Clark.
