'INCOME TAX HARVEST. FILM STARS* PAYMENTS. WASHINGTON. Sept. 3. Official figures disclose the amounts of Income tax paid by America's richest men.

J. D. Rockefeller, junior, continues to be tho greatest individual taxpayer, handing over an amount in excess of 6,250,000 dollars (£1,250,000). " The .Ford Motor Company last year paid 16,000,000 dollars (£3,200,000) in tax, while Henry and Edssl Ford paid 2,000,000 dollars (£400,000) each. Andrew W. Mellon, Secretary to the Treasury, comes close behind with 1,900,000 dollars, J. Pierponi Morgan paid an income tax of 500,000 dollars; President Coolidge, 14,000 dollars; Douglas Fairbanks, 180,000 dollars; and Mary Pickford, 34,000 dollars. ■ . Gloria Swanson paid 57,000 dollars. William Wrigley, the choiring gum magnate, paid 800,000 dollars tax a year ago, but only 2000 dollars this year. What he made in chewing gum he lost in the failure of a manufacturing plant which he owned. Henry Leon Wilson, the author, who recently visited Australia, paid 26,000 dollars. ... Charlie Chaplin paid only 345 dollars fjjiis year. Pola Negri and Bill Hart parted with 15,000 dollars each; "Fatty" Arbuckle with 6000; and Rudolph Valentino with 2000.
