AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE Business was much brighter on the Auckland sharemarkot yesterday. In Government securities there was no strengthening in the demand for War Loans, but buyers of Inscribed Stock rallied, and there was* inquiry for all issues. In debentures a sale of New Zealand Breweries took place at 22s 6d, late holders asking 235. buyers being at the sale figure. In banks there was a further sale of Australasias at the previous day's price of £l4 7s 6d, closing quotations being holders £l4 10s, buyers £l4 ss. Commercials of Australia changed hands at 31s 6d, late inquiry being at this figure, holders 325. New Zealands showed no change, holders being at 575, buyers 56s 9d. In insurances New Zealands sold at Monday's price of 365, closing inquiry being at the sale figure, holders 36s 3d. South British were steady, holders' quotation of 51s 9d being met by demand at 51s 3d. In finance there was a sale of New Zealand and River Plate at 21s 10U, late holders quoting 225, buyers 21s 7d. In coal Taupiris changed hands at 36s 9d. Late holders were at 17s 3d, buyers 16s 6d. In gas a transaction in Aucklands took place at 22s lid. Late holders asked 235, buyers 22s lOd. In miscellaneous lines a sale of New Zealand Breweries shares was reported at 40s, closing quotations being holders 40s 6d, buyers 40s. Taranaki Oils were again slightly lower, selling at 2.1s 6d, late holders being at 225, buyers 21s. Two sales of Wilsons Cement took place at the previous day's price of 345. In mining Kawaraus were sold at lis 6dWaihis were unaltered at holders 25s 6d. buyers 255.
