The New Zealand Rugby Leaguo team yesterday scored a notable victory over New South Wales just on time, tho final scores being New Zealand, 19; New South Wales, 18.. Although tho spectators ungrudgingly admired the visitors' courageous fighting they were disappointed with the dispiriting play of the home team. Mouatt and Henry repeatedly endeavoured to engineer combined rushes among the forwards in the first half, and not without success. Faulty handling at critical periods, however, spoiled several seem ingly imminent scores. Visitors Assume the Lead. McMahon, tho Blues' five-eighth, played below form, to the dismay of his colleagues. The simplest transfers seemed to mesmerise him on occasions. Once ho made no mistake, however, and Stettler finished the movement with a try. This was possibly New South Wales' play of the match. At the interval New South Wales led by 10 points to 2, but the leeway merely galvanised tho New Zealand team to renewed activity in tho second session. Throwing the ball about in short, snappy passing among tho forwards and the backs, tho visitors went into action with more than their earlier confidence. Mouatt notched a penalty goal in the first term, and added another after a respite, Wetherill immediately attacked and sent Parkes across near the corner post. Mouatt landed a splendid goal soon after. Then Kirwan dashed through to the Blues' fullback and sent Parkes over for another try, which Mouatt converted. Tiio score now was:— New Zealand ... ..14 .New South Wales . . . . 10 New Zealanders Win by a Point. The spectators then witnessed fast and attractive lootbali.
