DAVIS CUP CONTESTS.
FRENCH TEAM'S PROWESS. VIEWS OF J. O. ANDERSON. A. and N.Z. MONTREAL. Aug. 10. The Australian Davis Cup player, J. 0. Anderson, is considerably upset by an interview published in tho Montreal Star, in which ho is quoted as having said that the French team is tho only ono which is feared by tho Australians. Anderson says he has received a score of telegrams, including some from the American Davis Cup players, jokingly inquiring whether they should withdraw from tho tournament altogether. According to Anderson tho reporter who interviewed him did not interpret his thoughts aright. What ho meant to say was that France was the most dangerous of the teams who aro trying to reach the challenge round against the United States.
