PRESENTATION.
A DEPARTING OFFICER.
A farewell dinner and presentation were tendered by the officers of the First Battalion of the Auckland Regiment at the Officers' Club on Saturday evening to Captain L. Potter, who is shortly proceeding to India on transfer.
The officer commanding the battalion, Colonel E. G. Frailer, presided and twenty-one of his officers were present. in addition to several guests, among them Colonel J. E. Duigan, chief staff officer. The proceedings throughout were of a cordial nature and a number of appropriate toasts were honoured. The chairman, on behalf of the officers of the battalion, presented Captain Potter with a silver cigarette case embossed with the regimental crest and suitably inscribed, at the same time offering the departing officer best wishes for his future career. A small orchestra from the Regimental Band, under Lieutenant Lighton, added much to the enjoyment of the evening.
