FIGHT AGAINST LIQUOR.
THE NEW ZEALAND ALLIANCE. DECLARATION OF POLICY. [BX TELEGRAPH. —PBES3 ASSOCIATION. ] WELLINGTON, Saturday. The Dominion executive of the New Zealand Alliance unanimously passed tho® following resolutions in reply to tho resolution of the Dominion executive of tho New Zealand Licensing Reform Association, passed in June:— " That the executive of the New Zealand Alliance calls public attention to misrepresentation in tho resolution of tho New Zealand Licensing Reform Association, published in the press throughout the Dominion, incorrectly charging tho Prohibition party with the adoption of a vicious principle in attempting to secure control of Parliament and suggesting that the alliance is endeavouring to secure prohibition by legislative enactment instoad of by referendum. " That tho Alliance has consistently fought to secure for the people the right of control of the liquor traffic while it is legalised, and the right to abolish it by their vote. _ .. - "That, in pursuance of#its policy, the alliance has resolved to make public tho nature of all legislative proposal affecting the liquor traffic, to ascertain the attitude toward Buch proposals of every candidate for Parliament, and to make that attitude known to the electors concerned, ' I " That the alliance recognises that many questions of far-reaching importance demand the attention of electors when contemplating the selection- of representatives to the Legislature, but it claims prominence among such questions for the maintenance and perfecting of the control or abolition i>f the liquor traffic by tho will of the people, and therefore urgos prohibition supporters, in deciding for whom they shall vote, to place this principle before party interests. " That the alliance is not affiliated to any political party, and that one principle it adopts in regard to legislative activity is to give adequate information to the electors, and to rely on them to maintain and advance their rights."
