MOTOR-CYCLE INTERESTS.
, THE NEW ZEALAND UNION. CONFERENCE IN AUCKLAND. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Auto-cycle Union was held in the offices of the Auckland Motor Racing Club on Saturday, the retiring chairman, Mr. E. C. Gaisford, presiding. Sixteen affiliated motor-cycle clubs from all parts of New Zealand were represented. The profit on the year's working was phown to be very small, and as a result i it was decided to raise tho registration 1 fee for riders from 2s 6d a year to 5s for the first year and 10s for each succeeSing year. Numerous remits wero discussed and several minor alterations to rules were made. An executivo committee was appointed to administer the rules of the •union, but without any power to alter the rules or by-laws. The matter of an official handicapper •was discussed, but as the expense of one man working the whole of New Zealand was too great, Messrs. Gaisford, Williams, Barlay and Kay were appointed district foandicAppoi'*. An important ruling by the New Zealand Swimming Association was reported ! whereby a rule classing motor-cyclists as professionals was rescinded. This has the effect of classing ail motor cycle racing men an amateurs. The Auckland club was ullotted December 12 and March 6 for its racing •dates. The following officers were elected: — President, Mr, A, W. Spragg, Hawera; vice-presidents, Messrs. A. Smith (Hamilton), B, Averill (Hastings), E, C. Gaisford (Hull*), Executive committee, Messrs. Bpragg, Gaisford and Barrel I.
