ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. ARRANGEMENTS FOR SATURDAY. The Management Committee of the Auckland Football Association met laat evening, Mr. Androw Menzies presiding over a full attendance of members. A lengthy discussion arose out of a report from, the Northcoto delegate that junidr players were finding it hard in having to travel to the country every time they were drawn to meet an outside club liko Green Day, Swanson, Takanmi and Taniuki. Some of the trips cost the lads as much as 5s a Saturday. It was explained the whole ditlicuity waa the shortage of playing areas winch compelled the Urounds Committee to utiliso tho country grounds as much as possible. Swanson had agreed to pay tho fares of players visiting there for u return match. Another barrier to country teams playing in town was that tho majority of their members had to bo homo in time for milking. A lotter from tho Otago Asspciation intimated that it was not possible to arrange a match with Auckland on tho grounds of tho New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition in Duncdin. A suggestion that tho match should bo played on another city ground was deferred until lator in the season. The transfer of It. Ritchie from Thistle to Puketniro was approved. G. Brydon, of VVatcrsiders, was regraded to second division, and Tocher transferred from Northcoto to Hollaby's. An application for the transfer of Kay from Watorsiders to Thistle was deferred until next week, after being put to tho vote. Two members of tho Northcoto senior toam who were reported by tho refereo for ungentlemanly behaviour in their match with Y.M.C.A., appeared before the committee. After hearing evidence and statements by tho players it was decided to suspend olio man for two Saturdays and dismiss tho charge against the other. It was decided to write to tho Swanson Club acquainting them with tho details of a complaint lodged by tho Y.M.C.A. Ulm regarding tho roforeo in tho match played two weeks ago. Tho decision of tho referee in abandoning tho Northcole-Y.M.C.A. second grade match last Saturday on account of tho state of tho ground was upheld. It wag resolved that tho game bo replayed at the end of tho season if necossary. Formal leave of absence was granted to Mr. Menzies, who intimated that ho would bo making a trip to Australia during tho next month. Mr. F. M. Ritchie was appointed deputy-chairman. COUNTRY WEEK TOURNEY. DRAW FOR PROVINCIAL CUP. . Matters in connection with tho forthcoming country week were discussed at a meeting of tho Auckland Ladies' Hockoy Assocjation on Monday evening held at tho Y.M.C.A. Mihb P. 11. Dawaon presided. It was announced that eight teams would bo competing so that the provincial tournament should provo a success. Franklin is nutting in two teams this year and Goldfields will have ono team for tho first time This should provo n formidable combination as tho team will be picked from Thames. Waihi and Hauraki Plains players Another strong toam will bo Waikato. Pinko will bo represented again as will also Rotorua Auckland City will put in two teams Dicked from senior and junior players. From the standard of hockey in Auckland at the present time the selectors should huvo no difficulty in placing two really good teams in tho field. Whangarei this year are conspicuous by their absence, this boinj; tho first tournament thev have missed for several years. Tho plavors will bo entertained as far as possible. Rotorua ladies are giving a Maori concert. Mrs. Cowan has kindly offered to givo an at home and a dance will be given for players and friends. Permission was granted to Auckland University to play Whangarei High School, and to Tauranga to play a match with Te Puke. All senior grado matches, with tho exception of that between University and Training College B.- wero put ba-ck ono week on account of the match to bo played at Carlaw Park on Saturday.
