The Calcutta Corporation has been informed; tha:t unless steps,are taken to improve, theftnancial position of the corporation the government, will be unable to sanction the raising of a municipal loan. The corporation balances are fast diminishing as a result of profligate finance, and the use of its municipal positic>ii to further the ends of one political party; • The Government will insist that the revenue be increased and the exponditure cut down.
