The two university players, Nothling and Stanley, are not available owing to injuries. Tho pack is said to bo tha speediest that has been picked here for many years. VISIT TO AUSTRALIA. LITTLE PUBLICITY GIVEN. ; BY ERNEST E. BOOTH. SYDNEY, June 5. , In spito of the great excitement resulting from the election and the arrival of tho British Association and Queensland League teams there has already arisen some controversy a.nd discussion ns to the best methods'with which to beat the All Blacks. Some of the very oldest experts think they should revert right back to tho three threequarters instead of the four in that line.

The consistent boring of the wings by, the centres certainly favours that idea. The whole trouble originates to my mind ftom the centre's inability to make openings and ,run straight. The Welsh backs at their zenith alone I think m(ide a complete success of tho four threequar-

ter formation. In relation to the scrnm formation there'was almost a unanimous feeling in. favour of the seven-men scrum, 2—3—2, ' % i ■( ■ ' both quick heeling, smart wheeling and to obviate, the trouble of putting the ball in. What counted most against this, however, was tho placement of'tho extra man, anything savouring of a wing forward or a rover being absolutely tabooed.

Here in Sydney . within a week of the team's arrival the New Sooth Wales Rugby Union knows practically nothing whatever except the baro personnel of tho All Blacks' side. The names of the men and their provinces alone have corao to'hand. Compare this with ajl the other different codes working here strenuously and striving for popularity. They have all possible data including pictures, performances, jottings and > all particulars relating to both visiting teams a, nd the individual members weeks ahead. The New Zealand Union failed„very badly <n courtesy and consideration to tlje Ne<v South Wales Union in not thus helping it. . ' ■ ' .

Tho old hialcyon days when the simple tidings, ''The All Blacks are coming," was enough to ensure attention, has gone. The tour demands the best propaganda in publicity. Tho touring of football teams must now bo worked much on the same lines as theatrical companies Anyhow, it is such poor business foresight that is is worth attention. It is found in England before tho arrival of the New Zealand team.. They were practically unheralded and little w!ls known of tho individual members,
