HEAT WAVE ENDING.
DEATHS IN AMERICA. OVER 500 IN TEN DAYS. (Recoived 5.5 p.m.) Keutcr. NEW YORK, .Tune 8. The total number of, deaths in the United States during the ten days' spell of intenso heat is over 500. Of theso 149 occurred yesterday. Philadelphia and New York were the heaviest sufferers. Official records in Philadelphia show that the deaths there totalled 136. The heat wave in the eastern States was broken to-day by breezes from the Atlantic. Temperatures fell as much as 40 degrees iq fivo hours. Relief has also come to the middle west. Storms are now doingf considerable damage in several States.
