AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE Business was much brisker on the Auckland sharemarket yesterday and tho good demand for Government securities was maintained. In War Loans the 1939 issue sold for the first time-for six weeks at the lower price of £96 15s, "this being the buyers' figure of the previous day. In Inscribed Stock inquiry for the 1929 issue was 5s lower at £97 ss. The 1958 issue sold at the previous day's sale figure of £96 15s, late holders being at £97, buyers £96 10s. In banks Nationals of New Zealand (rights) wore available at 26s 3d, buyers offering 25s Bd. A sale of New South Wales was recorded at the slightly improved figure of £4l 7s 6d, closing buyers dropping to £4l, with holders at £4l 10s. Holders of New Zealands again asked 58s 6d, buyers being threepence lower at 57s 6d. For tho new issue both holders and buyers were slightly lower at 57s and 56s 3d respectively. In insurances New Zealands were unchanged at holders 34s 6d, buyers 345. A sale of South British was reported at 50s 3d, while there were two later sales at 50s 6d, this being the final figure offered by buyers. In gas Aucklands had sale at 23s 6d and "23s 7d, with lato holders advancing to 245, buyers 23s 6d, There was also activity in timber shares. Kauris sold at 32s 9d, this being the final offer of buyers. Business} was again dona in Nationals, two sales taking place at 22s 3d, closing holders being at 22s 6d, buyers 225. In miscellaneous lines three parcels of Sanfords sold at 21s. Closing holders quoted 21s 6d, with buyers at 20s 6d. Taranaki Oils firmed and sold at 22s 6d, Is 6d above the previous price. Closing holders were at 235, and buyers at the sale figure. A transaction in Wilsons Cement took placo at 32s 6d, an improvement on recent sales. In mining Waihis were still sought at 265, with holders at 275.
