SYDNEY SAFE-BLOWING.
•ARREST OF A CRIPPLE." ««YOU'VE GOT ME AGAIN." A sensational arrest of a one-armed man following an explosion was made by the Sydney polico on May 31. The explosion took place in tho second storey of a Tho polico, on investigating, found a safe with the dooi' blown completely off. " As tho polico entered the building a man sprang through the window leading out, to the roof, and made a despcrato effort to escape. On the detectives levelling their revolvers at him, the man surrendered and exclaimed, " All right, you've/ got mo again. An examination- of tho interior of tho premises disclosed that in a separate room another safe had been packed with explosive, ready to bo blown open. Tho arrested man, in October was picked up in th o street dreadfully injured as tho rosult of an explosion. Housebreaking implements were found in his pockets. Ho was seriously ill for weeks, and then stood his trial, tho magistrato stating that ho was extending leniency to the prisoner because of his terrible injury. He had his harir} blown off and his right eyo was also destroyed. Ho told the polico that cigarctto ash fell on explosives ho was carrying. Tho man, Reginald LesMcLeod, a labourer, was charged next day with breaking and entering with intent to steal. A remand was granted, and bail in £2OO allowed. : ■
