The newspaper News of the World states that Sir John Baird, who is to succeed Lord Forster as Governor-General of Australia, will take the title of Baron Stonehaven, from the town in Aberdeenshiro where he has his country seat. The paper adds: "Even a peerage will never efface the affectionate name of Johnny Baiid" from the memory of his old Parliamentary friends.
