NEW WIRELESS FEAT.

DOMINION TO ITALY. TVVO - WAY COMMUNICATION. A TALK WITH /MILAN. SIGNALS CLEARLY HEARD. [ev telegrath.—own correspondent. ] WELLINGTON, Sunday. New wireless history was made this afternoon when a two-way communication was established with Italy for the first time. Signor Santangeli Mario, of Milan, who gave his full name and address, was working long distances this afternoon, when a New Zealand amateur, Geoffrey Shrimpton, of Wellington, son of the chief telegraph engineer, picked up his signals and held him until he was identified. The Italian became very excited, and for some moments his messages were very confused and indistinct. Strangely enough they were in English. Conversation without confusion Was established as followsMilan: Since we heard about New Zealand talking to London wo havo all been trying to pick up New Zealand. This is the .first occasion of our success. Hurrah! Hurrah! Wellington (in calmer mood): Yes wo can hear your signals quite well. You are sending in English. This is the first time wo have picked up Italy. . Milan: Hurrah! Hurrah! Many thanks for your report on my signals. ' Please tell me your full name and address. I shall write to you and acknowledge your messages. Wellington acceded to the request, and promised to do likewise. Milan: I shall be trying to pick up New Zealand again next Sunday at this time, 4 p.m., and shall be delighted if you shall bo on hand. Your signals are very steady. Wellington again acquiesced, and the Italian, still very excited, continued sending '"Hurrah!" for somo time. This is the first occasion on which a two-way communication has been established with Italy. France is the only part of Europe that has been worked so far. Mr. Bell, of Waihemo, and Mr. Slade, of Dunedin, who have talked to London and the United States, have also talked to amateurs in the French capital.
