| ENGINE STRIKES MOTOR-CAR. 1 OCCUPANT ESCAPES LIGHTLY. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] [ TIM Alt U. Friday, j When the Ashburton-Timaru train was I [ passing Winchester this evening Mr. J. I Wordsworth, of Geraldine, driving a motor-car, attempted to cross the road in t - front of tho engino. The car was smashed beyond repair, but tho impact threw Mr. Wordsworth clear and he escaped with minor injuries. The driving rods of the locomotive were broken and a relief engine had to be sent out to bring tho train to Timaru.
