DAMAGE BY FLOODS.
ROADS AND BRIDGES GONE. 1 GOVERNMENT HELP REQUIRED. J_BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] TAUMAIIUNUL Friday. The chairman of the Tuumaruuui County Council, Mr. G. A. Stanton, stated today that the, flood damage in the county ran into thousands of pounds and settlers in many cases were as badly off as if they had no roads at all. Unless the Government realised that the present was a case for more than ordinary assistance these settlers would be isolated altogether and would be unable to move any stock at all. The heaviest expense would come from the logs of bridges, but dozens of washouts and slips would cost hundreds -of pounds to repair.
