ANTHRAX FROM DUST.

The danger of contracting anthrax through the dust rising from dry hides was emphasised by a witness at a Southwar k inquest lately on George Giggins, dock labourer, who had been employed at a wharf at. Bermondsey, where millions of hides from all parts of the world are handled in a-year, lie died in hospital from anthrax. .Mr. K. A. Pjirfitt, the wharf superintendent, said there had not been a previous fatal case of anthrax at the wharf for 40 years. All tho statutory precautions were taken, but it would bo impossible to sterilise tho hides. Dry hides were the most dangerous owing to the dust, which might enter any alight cut or abrasion. Tho coroner recorded a verdict of death by misadventure.
