HOME-MADE BREAD
A subscriber has forwarded the following recipe for home made bread. She mentions that she has a family of five, and she finds that she has a sufficiency if she bakes two mornings a week. Put into a large bowl b. flour and 1 heaped tablespoon of salt. Mix together and make a well in centre. Now add i cake yeast (compressed) into a pint of hike warm water with two tablespoons of sugar. . Leave for few moments, then work all into a light dough with 1 quart, of luke-warm water. Keep warm until it rises to double size. Make into four loaves, and rise again before putting into hot oven.. To those with only a gas stove, a good plan is to stand the bowl fin top rif the hot-water bottle on verv cold-days. Time required: Ten minutes to prepare, 1A hours to rise, ] hour to hake. Fur whole meal put half flour and half whole meal and a little more water to work the dough.
