BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY. / P [sv TELEGTUfH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.} PAEBOA. Friday. The annual meeting of the Paeroa Beautifying Society was presided over by Mr. W. Marshall. Tho financial statement showed the society to be in a fairly good position, having a credit balance of £l7 10s. i i Several new members were elected, and the following officers appointed:—Patrons, Messrs. If. Poland, M.P., and J. C. Ilatina; president/Mr. W. Marshall; vicepresidents, Messrs. J. W. Silcock and G. M. Taylor; committee, Misses Shaw and Iliekard, Messrs. G. P. do Castro, J. E. Biglaw, E. Edwards, J. Wahnslov, and H, E. Butler; auditor, Mr. W. 11. Blakeway; secretary and treasurer, Miss I). W. Butler. It was decided to hold a social to raise funds with which to plant trees in Taylor's Avenue. The County Council unanimously elected Mr. W. F. Johnstone as chairman. Mr. A. It. Robinson,' the retiring chairman, did not seek re-election.
