SCARCITY OF PHEASANTS.
Sir,—ln the past two or three years pheasants have been dying out fast round 1 this district, and unless something is'dono 2 soon there will be r.o inducement to take r, out a license. No pheasants have been i liberated round this district, and those of us who pay our annual £1 think we 1 should receive some consideration. We i read of the high cost of raising these birds j of sport, and if the Acclimatisation Society or any other breeder would supply us with a setting or two of eggs to start us , off with w,e would raise the thicks, keeping a pair for future breeding, and liberating the rest at the proper time. It would be a good idea, to grant this privilege to any other licensed sportsman who cares to do as suggested. This would save expense on breeding farms and practically everybody concerned would benefit. Ongaruc. Spoutsmax.
