PLUNGED OVERBOARD.
INCIDENT AT YOKOHAMA. OFFICERS' CHILLY BATH. TOKIO. May 20. Entertaining and being entertained, the personnel of H.M.A.S. Brisbane had a busy day and night. The only unscheduled event was that Captain Patterson and 20 of his officers, returning to their ship following a reception by Yokohama officials, jumped into tho harbour when a launch from tho cruiser Iwate threatened to upset thorn in a heavy sea. Accompanying the officers in their involuntary and chilly bath were the ViceMinister of the Navy, the Governor of Kanagawa Province, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Yokosuka station. Tho Mayor of Yokohama whs tho only ono who stuck to the boat.
The affair might easily bavo had gravo consequences, but fortunately it turned out to be merely humorous.
