CAR FALLS INTO CREEK.

OCCUPANTS' LUCKY ESCAPE. A DANGEROUS BRIDGE. " VERITABLE DEATH TRAP." IBX TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WAIIII, Tuesday. Another instance of tlie danger which daily threatens motor traffic at the temporary structure) which serves for a bridge over the Waitete Creek' on the Waihi-P aeroa Road, was furnished by the experience of a motoring party at about 7.30 last evening, when a taxi driver, Mr. David 80-yes, and his two passengers (one named Bagley), had a remarkable escape from serious injury, if notdeal h.

The driver, an experienced motorist, but unacquainted with the locality, fortunately took the right course on reaching tho deviation from the old road lo the now, but owing to tho sharp bond leading to the approach lie failed to see the bridge in time to swing Lis car fairly on to it. As a result the motor pitched headlong over tho corner, a drop of Bft., into the creek below. The/car turned a somersault, finally resting on its side in about 2ft. of water, and the occupants who were in the front seat were for a few minutes imprisoned by the flattened hood. After a desperate struggle they tore away one of the side curtains and scrambled through tho aperature into tho icy waters of tho creek.

All three suffered more or less from shock and bruises. The condition of Sir. Bagley was such as to necessitate his removal to the Waihi Hospital for treatment.

The accident makes the fourth that that has happened to motor vehicles at this point, which is described as a veritable death trap to those not acquainted with the road. Had Sir. Boyes taken the wrong turn the car would have plunged into the bed of the creek, a drop of 15ft.
