GLEN EDEN AFFAIRS.
DANGEROUS CROSSINGS. Tha Glen Eden Town Board met this week. Mr. J. M. West presiding. A deputation from the school committee waited upon tho board requesting its assistance in approaching tho Railway Department with regard to the local railway crossings, neither of which has any warning signal arrangements. It was pointed out that this was a serious danger to the bulk of school children who have to cross tho lino on their _ way to school. Tho chairman was appointed to represent tho board in tho mattor. An estimate for tho construction of tho West Caast Bond was received. It was decided to interview the Waitemata County Council before proceeding further with the matter. Messrs. West, Martin and Hayes wero appointed to represent the board lit any conference that might bo arranged. Tho road foreman was instructed to prepare estimates of material required to repair all existing footpaths. Tho preparation of a- list of signposts to bo erected in the district was left to Mr. Martin, who will also decide where they shall bo placed. A rate of 9-16 of a penny wag struck in connection with tho concreting of tho main road.
