INADEQUATE VENTILATION. CAS FOUND TO BE PRESENT. [HY TELEfUAPII. I GUKYMOUTH. Monday. The manager of tho Dobson Mine. alter Leitch, was charged this morning by the Mines Department with failing to ensure adequate ventilation at the mine. I lie inspector, Mr. Strongman. said that on April 17 lie visited the mine and found conditions' such that ho immediately withdrew tho men. <_; as being present. Proper records 'had not been kept, fie was instructed to press for a heavv penult y. l'or. the defence it. was pleaded that Leitch was away at Greyinouth and ihe air-nose was disconnected for repairs during his absence. Tho magistrate convicted accused and imposed a fine of ,I's.
