NEW AMERICAN CONSUL.
MR. WALTER BOYLE ARRIVES. LAST POSITION IN MEXICO. " After seven years in cities more or less in the desert it is wonderful to come to a country with a climate like that of New Zealand." In these words Mr. Walter F. Boyle, the newly-appointed Consul for the United States in Auckland, expressed his delight at his first experience of his new location as he came up the Waitemata Harbour on the Niagara yesterday. The new Consul, who takes up the post lately vacated by Mr. K. de G. MacYitty, was accompanied by Mrs. Boyle and their daughter He has been in the United States Foreign Service for the past ten years, his last appointment having been at San Luis Potosi, Mexico, where lie. was in residence for two years. Mr. Boyle was first, appointed to La Cceion in Honduras and was then sent to Puerto Cortes in the same republic. His next move was to Mexcala in Mexico, and lie was then transferred to San Luig Potosi, in Central Mexico. Mrj Boyio was enthusiastic about the green hills surrounding the Hauraki Gulf, and both expressed their admiration at the wide expanse of the island-dotted gulf. The-Consul'said lie had met many New Zeahinders and had read glowing accounts of the Dominion, lint, as literature advertising countries was generally written in exaggerated terms lie was prepared. for a certain amount of disappointment. However, the panorama before him reassured him and he was looking toward a ve.y pleasant stay.
