IMPERIAL CONFERENCE.
AUSTRALIAN SUGGESTION. ASSEMBLY AT CANBERRA, The Prime Minister of Australia, Mr. S. M. Bruce, expressed deep interest in the suggestion that an Imperial Conference should meet at Canberra next year to coincide with the opening of the new Federal Parliament. Mr. Bruce said he favoured the idea, but he did not think it possible that a full dress Imperial Conference could be held at Canberra, owing to the difficulty of arranging for the British PrinSe Minister to travel so far from England. "We have always agreed that his presence is essential to a first raak Imperial Conference," said Mr. Bruce. "I do think, however, that it might be jossiblo to hold a subsidiary Imperial Conference at the inauguration of the Federal Parliament at Canberra. I have frequently stated that I favour Imperial Conferences being held in other parts of the Empire, besides London." .
