PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD.

QUESTION OF DRAINAGE.

The l'apakura Town Board met on Tuesday evening, their being present Messrs. A. D. Nicholson, chairman, 11 H. F. Mclntee, C. Tuely, J.- McCall,- Wm. J. Milne and Rev. \V. E. Wood. ( The board's engineer was instructed..to proceed with the ordering and erection of the water filtering plant at a goijt of £4546. ■:

The' Health Department wrote pointing out the pressing need for the installation of a drainage system with as little delay as possible and urging that the business portion of the town be attended at once. The clerk was instructed to replythat plans were prepared for the ' work and the board would shortly place -i the scheme before the ratepayers. Information was received that authority had been given for the sale of the portion of tlio Pehurehure Domain reserve, situated on the Great South Road, the proceeds of which are to be devoted to the purchase of land on Young Beach Road. It was decided to. order 100 yards of metal for the Great South Road. .

A vote of sympathy was passed with Mr. T. Campbell, a former member of the board, in connection with the death of his wife.
