ACTRESS' LOST RING.
FELLOW ARTIST CHARGED. PROCEEDINGS IN COURT. A. and N.Z. LONDON. Apl. It. A diamond ring, valued at £250. which was stolen from the Majestic Theatre, Adelaide, on November 15, figured in a ease heard at tho Bow Stree? Police Court.
A music-hall performer, Harry Luniba, was charged with the unlawful possession of a ring belonging to Bessie Clifford, also a music-hall artist.
For tliu prosecution il wis alleged thai Lamba. went to Tvliss Clifford's dressingroom to congratulate her on Tier escapo from a railway accident. Miss Clifford subsequently missed the ring. The police were informed, but no action was taken until by a curious coincidence Miss Clifford learned that a Miss Annie Cohen bad received the missing ring from Lamba upon becoming engaged to him. Lamba stated that he bought l lm ring in Perth, Western Australia, for £225 after he had won £250 from a bookmaker. Lamba was released on bail of £SO.
